Alanis Nadine Morissette (born June 1, 1974) is a Canadian-American alternative rock singer-songwriter, guitarist, record producer, and actor. She began her career in Canada in the early 1990s with two commercially successful dance-pop albums before moving to Los Angeles. In 1995, she released Jagged Little Pill, a rock-oriented album that sold more than 33 million units worldwide. Her next album, Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, came out in 1998.
Morissette produced her later albums, including Under Rug Swept (2002), So-Called Chaos (2004), Flavors of Entanglement (2008), and Havoc and Bright Lights (2012). She has sold over 60 million albums globally and is known for her powerful mezzo-soprano voice. Rolling Stone has called her the "Queen of alt-rock angst."
