Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, born October 13, 1989, is an American political activist, educator, community organizer, and politician. On June 26, 2018, she won the Democratic primary in New York's 14th congressional district, defeating the incumbent Democratic Caucus Chair Joseph Crowley, in a major upset during the 2018 midterm election season.
She is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America and has received endorsements from various politically progressive organizations and individuals.
