Andrea Petkovic, born on 9 September 1987 in Tuzla, SFR Yugoslavia, is a German tennis player. She moved to Germany at six months old and turned professional in 2006. Petkovic reached her career-high singles ranking of world number 9 in October 2011 after reaching the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, French Open, and US Open that year.
In 2012, she suffered three injuries—a back injury in January, an ankle injury in August, and a knee injury in December—that kept her out for nine months and nearly caused her to fall out of the top 200 rankings. She has won five WTA titles, nine ITF singles titles, three ITF doubles titles, and the 2014 WTA Tournament of Champions. Petkovic was the German national champion in 2007 and 2009 and is coached by Eric van Harpen.
