Anna Tatangelo (born 9 January 1987) is an Italian pop singer. At age 15, she became the youngest winner of the Newcomer's Award at the Sanremo Music Festival. Her repertoire mainly includes pop music with some neo-melodic influences, notably in songs composed by Gigi D'Alessio and in the fifth fusion album Progetto B. Since 2007, she has also written some songs.
She has addressed social issues such as women's empowerment, homophobia, anorexia, and violence against women. Tatangelo participated in the Sanremo Music Festival six times over ten years, winning in 2002 with "Doppiamente fragile" and placing on the podium three more times: third in 2005 with "Ragazza di periferia," third overall and first in the women's category in 2006 with "Essere una donna," and second in 2008 with "Il mio amico." Her last participation was in 2011 with "Bastardo." She is in a romantic relationship with singer Gigi D'Alessio. To date, she has sold nearly 1 million copies worldwide.
