Maria Louise Joensen, known professionally as Aura Dione, was born on January 21, 1985, in Copenhagen, Denmark. She is a multi-platinum selling Danish recording artist of Faroese, Spanish, French, and Danish origin. In 2008, she released her debut album, Columbine, which included the hit single "I Will Love You Monday (365)." The single reached number one in Germany, was certified platinum, and received over 80 million video views.
In 2011, Aura Dione won the European Border Breaker Award. She received Best Female Artist and Hit of the Year for "Geronimo" at the Danish Music Awards in 2012 and was named Female Artist of the Year in 2013. She is considered one of Denmark's top two female recording artists and one of Germany's top three.
