Colleen Ballinger (born November 21, 1986) is an American comedian, actress, singer, and YouTube personality. She is best known for her Internet character Miranda Sings, a comically talentless and egotistical persona created to satirize poorly singing YouTube performers who are unaware of their lack of talent. Through videos and live performances, Miranda Sings sings and dances badly, misinterprets current events, offers ineffective tutorials, collaborates with other YouTubers, and rants about personal issues and critics she calls "haters."
Ballinger also produces comedy and lifestyle content on her personal YouTube channel, PsychoSoprano, and a vlog channel, Colleen Vlogs, with over 1.8 billion total views combined. She won a Teen Choice Award for "Web Star: Comedy" and a Streamy Award in 2015, and was named one of The Hollywood Reporter's Top 25 Digital Stars. Ballinger has performed Off-Broadway, in regional theatre, on television, and in web series. She appeared as Miranda Sings on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee in 2014, and on The Tonight Show. In 2015, she guest co-hosted The View, appeared as Miranda on The Grace Helbig Show, and released a best-selling book, Selp-Helf, written in Miranda's voice. Ballinger toured with her husband in early 2016 and continued touring as Miranda later that year. She stars as Miranda in the Netflix series Haters Back Off, scheduled for release in October 2016.
