Elena Jane "Ellie" Goulding (born 30 December 1986) is an English singer and songwriter. She began her career after meeting record producers Starsmith and Frankmusik and was later managed by Jamie Lillywhite. Goulding signed to Polydor Records in July 2009 and released her debut extended play, An Introduction to Ellie Goulding, the same year.
In 2010, Goulding topped the BBC's Sound of... poll and won the Critics' Choice Award at the Brit Awards. Her debut studio album, Lights, was released in 2010, debuting at number one on the UK Albums Chart and selling over 850,000 copies in the UK. Her cover of Elton John's "Your Song" reached number two in the UK in December 2010, and she performed it at the wedding reception of Prince William and Catherine Middleton in April 2011. The album's title track peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100. Her second album, Halcyon, was released in October 2012, debuting at number two on the UK Albums Chart and later reaching number one after 65 weeks. Halcyon Days, a repackaged edition, was released in August 2013 and included the single "Burn," which became her first UK number-one single. Goulding won British Female Solo Artist at the 2014 Brit Awards. Her third studio album, Delirium, was released on 6 November 2015, with "On My Mind" as the lead single. In December 2015, she received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Solo Performance for "Love Me like You Do."
