Isabelle Anne Madeleine Huppert (born 16 March 1953) is a French actress who has appeared in more than 110 films since her debut in 1971. She is the most nominated actress for the César Award, with 16 nominations, and won Best Actress twice for La Cérémonie (1995) and Elle (2016). Huppert was made Chevalier of the Ordre national du Mérite in 1994 and promoted to Officier in 2005. She was also made a Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in 1999 and promoted to Officer in 2009.

Her first César nomination was for the 1975 film Aloïse. She won the BAFTA Award for Most Promising Newcomer in 1978 for The Lacemaker. Huppert won Best Actress awards at the Cannes Film Festival for Violette Nozière (1978) and The Piano Teacher (2001), and two Volpi Cups for Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival for Story of Women (1988) and La Cérémonie. In 2016, she won a Golden Globe, an Independent Spirit Award, and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for Elle, also receiving Best Actress awards from the National Society of Film Critics, New York Film Critics Circle, and Los Angeles Film Critics Association for Elle and Things to Come. Huppert is the most nominated actress for the Molière Award, with 7 nominations. She debuted on the London stage in 1996 in Mary Stuart, and on the New York stage in 2005 in 4.48 Psychosis, returning in 2009 for Quartett and in 2014 for The Maids.
