Julia Neigel (born April 19, 1966, in Barnaul, Siberia, Soviet Union) is a German singer, songwriter, author, and producer. Her family moved back to Germany in 1971. She lives in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Rhineland-Palatinate. She began singing at 14 and released her first album at 22. Her music style combines soul and R&B influenced pop rock, and she is known for a vocal range exceeding four octaves.
Neigel played her first concert in 1982 and joined The Stealers in 1986, which later became Jule Neigel & Band and then Jule Neigel Band. Her first hit, "Schatten an der Wand," reached #30 on the German charts in 1988, the same year she released her debut album produced by Ralf Zang. She released five more studio albums until the late 1990s. After a hiatus, she released a live album in 2006 and has performed under her birth name since. In 2011, she released Neigelneu, her first studio album in over ten years. She has collaborated with musicians including Simon Phillips, Paco de Lucía, Helmut Zerlett, Udo Lindenberg, Peter Maffay, and Edo Zanki, and opened for Status Quo, Toto, Rickie Lee Jones, and Ronan Keating.
