Julia Carin Cavazos (born November 13, 1993), known as Julia Michaels, is an American singer and songwriter from Davenport, Iowa. She began performing as a teenager and wrote songs for artists including Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Fifth Harmony, Hailee Steinfeld, and Gwen Stefani.
Michaels signed with Republic Records and released her solo debut single "Issues" in 2017, which reached number 11 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was certified triple-platinum by the RIAA. She also released her debut EP, Nervous System, in 2017. Michaels has been nominated twice for a Grammy and for MTV Video Music, Billboard Music, and American Music Awards.
