Ketevan "Katie" Melua, born 16 September 1984, is a Georgian-British singer and songwriter. She moved to the United Kingdom at age eight, first to Belfast and then to London in 1999. Melua is signed to the Dramatico record label under the management of composer Mike Batt and made her musical debut in 2003.
Her first album, Call Off the Search, was released in November 2003 at age 19, reaching the top of the UK album charts and selling 1.8 million copies in five months. Her second album, Piece by Piece, released in September 2005, has been certified quadruple platinum. Melua released her third album, Pictures, in October 2007. In 2006, she was the UK's best-selling female artist and Europe's highest-selling European female artist. According to the Sunday Times Rich List 2008, she had a fortune of £18 million, ranking as the seventh-richest British musician under 30.
