Laura Marie Marano (born November 29, 1995) is an American actress and singer. She starred as Ally Dawson in the Disney Channel series Austin & Ally and was one of the original classmates on Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?. She appeared in Without a Trace and Back to You, playing the daughter of the main characters in both shows. Marano also starred in the indie film A Sort of Homecoming and the 2015 Disney Channel Original Movie Bad Hair Day.
In 2015, Marano signed with Big Machine Records and released her debut single "Boombox" on March 11, 2016. After Big Machine Records dropped all of their pop artists at the end of 2016, she signed with Warner Bros. Records in 2017 and planned to release her debut album with them. She is the younger sister of actress Vanessa Marano, known for Freeform's Switched at Birth.
