Layla Young (née El; born June 25, 1977) is an English dancer, model, and retired professional wrestler best known for her time in WWE. She was the final original WWE Women's Champion.
After attending a performing arts college, she danced for Carnival Cruise Lines, the Miami Heat, and Kanye West at the MTV Video Music Awards. In 2006, she won the WWE Diva Search, earning a contract with WWE. She appeared on SmackDown, then moved to ECW in 2007, forming the Extreme Exposé dance troupe. In 2008, she was drafted to Raw to manage William Regal, then returned to SmackDown in 2009 to form the LayCool alliance with Michelle McCool. In May 2010, Layla became the first British woman and first Diva Search winner to win the WWE Women's Championship, holding the final recognized version before it was retired. In April 2012, she won the WWE Divas Championship after returning from injury and held it until September. Layla retired from in-ring competition on July 29, 2015.
