Lucy Guo, born on October 14, 1994, in California, is a Chinese-American entrepreneur and software engineer. She grew up in Fremont with engineer parents, taught herself programming early, and earned money as a teenager by creating bots for online games. She started studying computer science at Carnegie Mellon University but dropped out in 2014 after receiving the Thiel Fellowship.
In 2016, at age 21, she co-founded Scale AI with Alexandr Wang and left the company in 2018, retaining a stake later valued at over $1.2 billion. She then founded the venture capital fund Backend Capital and in 2022 created the creator platform Passes, a family-friendly alternative to OnlyFans. By 2024, Passes had raised about $40 million in funding. In 2025, Guo became the youngest self-made billionaire in the US with an estimated net worth of $1.3 billion. That year, Passes faced a class-action lawsuit over alleged moderation issues, which Guo denied.
