Meghan Elizabeth Trainor (born December 22, 1993) is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. She was born and raised in Nantucket, Massachusetts, and independently released three albums between the ages of 15 and 17. In 2011, she signed a publishing deal with Big Yellow Dog Music and pursued songwriting.
After signing with Epic Records in 2014, Trainor gained fame with her major-label debut album, Title (2015), which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 and sold over one million copies. The album produced three top 10 singles: "All About That Bass," "Lips Are Movin," and "Like I'm Gonna Lose You." Her second major release, Thank You (2016), was preceded by the lead single "No," which reached number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her music is influenced by 1950s and 1960s styles and often addresses modern womanhood, body image, and empowerment. Trainor has received several awards, including a Grammy Award, the Music Business Association's Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and two Billboard Music Awards.
