Peng Shuai, born 8 January 1986, is a Chinese professional tennis player. She became the first Chinese player to be ranked world No. 1 in doubles by the WTA in February 2014. Her highest singles ranking was No. 14 in August 2011. Peng has won two singles and 22 doubles titles and earned a gold medal at the 2010 Asian Games. She won the ladies' doubles championship at the 2013 Wimbledon Championships and the 2014 French Open, both times with Hsieh Su-wei. Her best Grand Slam singles performance was reaching the semifinals at the 2014 US Open, making her the third Chinese player to reach a major semifinal.
Peng plays with two hands on both sides and hits very flat. She has defeated several top-10 and top-5 players, including Anastasia Myskina, Elena Dementieva, Kim Clijsters, Amélie Mauresmo, Francesca Schiavone, Jelena Janković, Agnieszka Radwańska, Marion Bartoli, and Vera Zvonareva.
