Rama Sawaf Duwaji, born on June 30, 1997, is an American animator, illustrator, and ceramic artist of Syrian descent. Raised in Houston and later in Dubai, she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master of Fine Arts in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts in New York.
Her art, which addresses Arab identity, social justice, and diaspora, has been featured in The New Yorker, The Washington Post, BBC, Apple, Spotify, and the Tate Modern. She is married to politician Zohran Mamdani and will become the First Lady of New York City in January 2026.
