Renée Kathleen Zellweger (born April 25, 1969) is an American actress and producer. She has received numerous awards, including an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, three Golden Globe Awards, and three Screen Actors Guild Awards. She was named Hasty Pudding's Woman of the Year in 2009 and was one of the highest-paid Hollywood actresses as of 2007.
Zellweger's first major film role was in Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994). She gained recognition for roles in Empire Records (1995), Jerry Maguire (1996), and Nurse Betty (2000), winning her first Golden Globe for the latter. She earned two Academy Award nominations and other accolades for Bridget Jones's Diary (2001) and Chicago (2002), winning awards for Chicago. She won an Academy Award and other honors for Cold Mountain (2003). She reprised Bridget Jones in Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004) and received further acclaim for Cinderella Man (2005) and Miss Potter (2006). After several smaller roles, she took a five-year acting hiatus before returning in The Whole Truth (2016), Bridget Jones's Baby (2016), and Same Kind of Different as Me (2017).
