Sarah Michelle Prinze (née Gellar; born April 14, 1977) is an American actress, producer, and entrepreneur. She began acting at age four and made her debut in the TV movie An Invasion of Privacy (1983). Gellar had guest roles on television and small film parts before her first lead role in the 1992 miniseries Swans Crossing, earning two Young Artist Award nominations. Her breakthrough came in 1993 as Kendall Hart on the ABC soap opera All My Children, winning a Daytime Emmy Award in 1995.
Gellar gained widespread recognition as Buffy Summers on Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997–2003), winning six Teen Choice Awards and a Saturn Award, and receiving a Golden Globe nomination. She appeared in horror films I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream 2 (both 1997), played Kathryn Merteuil in Cruel Intentions (1999), and starred as Daphne Blake in Scooby-Doo (2002). In 2004, she appeared in Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed and The Grudge, and its 2006 sequel. Later, she acted in smaller films and TV series including Ringer and The Crazy Ones. In 2015, she voiced a character in Star Wars Rebels and co-founded Foodstirs, a food-crafting brand selling baking kits for children.
