Tessa Jane McCormick Virtue (born May 17, 1989) is a Canadian ice dancer. With partner Scott Moir, she is a two-time Olympic champion (2010, 2018), the 2014 Olympic silver medalist, a three-time World champion (2010, 2012, 2017), a three-time Four Continents champion (2008, 2012, 2017), the 2016–17 Grand Prix Final champion, an eight-time Canadian National champion, and the 2006 World Junior champion. They also won the 2018 Olympic gold medal in the team event and the 2014 Olympic silver medal in the team event. They are the most decorated Canadian ice dance team and the most decorated Olympic figure skaters of all time.
Virtue and Moir were paired in 1997 and became Canada’s top ice dance team in 2007. They were the first North American ice dancers to win Olympic gold in 2010, ending a 34-year European streak, and the youngest ice dance team to win Olympic gold. They won World titles in 2010, 2012, and 2017, and Olympic silver in 2014. After a two-season break, they returned in 2016 and had an undefeated season, winning the 2017 World Championship. They hold the world record score for the original dance and are the longest-standing ice dance team in Canadian history. Their longevity and achievements have led many to consider them the greatest ice dancers of all time.
