Yulia Olegovna Volkova, born 20 February 1985, is a Russian singer, recording artist, and actress, best known as a member of the Russian girl group t.A.T.u. Formed in Moscow in March 1999 and managed by Ivan Shapovalov, the group signed with Universal Music Russia and later with Universal's sub-label Interscope Records in 2001. Their first single, "All the Things She Said," topped charts in multiple countries but attracted controversy due to an onscreen kiss between Julia and Lena Katina. t.A.T.u. released three English studio albums, including the best-selling 200 km/h in the Wrong Lane, three Russian albums, and four compilation albums. They also worked on alternative projects, such as the 2011 film You and I, and launched a Russian record label called T.A. Music. The group officially disbanded in March 2011 due to internal conflicts.
Following the split, Julia Volkova began a solo career by signing with Gala Records in June 2011. She released her debut single "All Because of You" in October 2011, also available in Russian as "Сдвину мир" (I'll Change the World). In July 2012, her management announced the upcoming release of her worldwide single "Didn't Wanna Do It," which was released on 21 August 2012. She is also working on her first solo studio album.
