Alicia Augello Cook, known as Alicia Keys, is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress born on January 25, 1981. Her debut album, Songs in A Minor, released with J Records, sold over 12 million copies worldwide and earned her five Grammy Awards in 2002, including Best New Artist and Song of the Year for "Fallin'". Her second album, The Diary of Alicia Keys (2003), sold eight million copies and won four Grammy Awards in 2005. That year, she released her first live album, Unplugged, which debuted at number one in the US, making her the first female to achieve this on MTV Unplugged.
Keys has appeared on television series such as The Cosby Show and Empire, and acted in films including Smokin' Aces, The Nanny Diaries (2007), and The Secret Life of Bees. Her third album, As I Am (2007), sold five million copies and earned three Grammy Awards. She released The Element of Freedom in 2009, her first UK chart-topping album, and Girl on Fire in 2012, which topped the US charts. Her second live album, VH1 Storytellers, came out in 2013. Throughout her career, Keys has won 15 Grammy Awards, sold over 35 million albums and 30 million singles worldwide, and received multiple rankings by VH1 and Billboard as a top R&B and female artist.
