Bettie Mae Page (April 22, 1923 – December 11, 2008) was an American model known for her pin-up photos in the 1950s. She was called the "Queen of Pinups" and was recognized for her jet black hair, blue eyes, and trademark bangs, which influenced artists for generations.
Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Page lived in California before moving to New York City to pursue acting. She became a pin-up model, posing for many photographers throughout the 1950s, and was Playboy's "Miss January 1955." In 1959, she converted to evangelical Christianity, worked for Billy Graham, and studied at Bible colleges aiming to become a missionary. Later in life, she experienced depression, mood swings, and was hospitalized with paranoid schizophrenia. Her popularity resurged in the 1980s after years of obscurity.
