Brenda Scott, born Brenda J. Smith on March 15, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio, is the niece of silent film star Mae Busch. She chose her stage name spontaneously from a novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald while visiting an agent. In the early 1960s, she gained attention with roles in series such as Mannix, Simon & Simon, and Oscar Phitkin: A Vendor’s Tale.
Scott was also known for her turbulent marriage to actor Andrew Prine, whom she married multiple times. Beyond the headlines, she worked as an actress and assistant director with a strong sense for storytelling. Since 1979, she has been married to producer Dean Hargrove.
