Céline Marie Claudette Dion (born 30 March 1968) is a Canadian singer and businesswoman from Charlemagne, Quebec. She gained international recognition in the 1980s by winning the 1982 Yamaha World Popular Song Festival and the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest representing Switzerland. After releasing several French albums, she signed with Epic Records in the United States and released her debut English album, Unison, in 1990.
During the 1990s, Dion achieved worldwide fame with albums such as Falling into You (1996) and Let's Talk About Love (1997), both certified diamond in the US, and D'eux (1995), the best-selling French-language album of all time. She had several international number-one hits including "The Power of Love" and "My Heart Will Go On." Dion took a hiatus in 1999 due to her husband's cancer diagnosis, returning in 2002. Her residency show A New Day... (2003–07) at Caesars Palace became the most successful of all time, grossing $385 million. Dion's music spans genres including rock, R&B, gospel, and classical, and she sings in multiple languages. She has won five Grammy Awards and is one of the best-selling artists worldwide with over 200 million records sold.
