Cori "Coco" Gauff (born March 13, 2004) is an American professional tennis player. She is the youngest player ranked in the top 100 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) and has career-high rankings of world No. 17 in singles, achieved on January 17, 2022, and No. 17 in doubles, achieved on November 8, 2021. Gauff won her first WTA singles title at the 2019 Linz Open at age 15, becoming the youngest singles title-holder on the WTA Tour since 2004. She also won three WTA doubles titles with Caty McNally. Gauff gained attention with a win over Venus Williams in the opening round at Wimbledon 2019.
Gauff was born to parents with NCAA Division I backgrounds in basketball and track and field. She tried various sports as a child before choosing tennis, inspired by the Williams sisters. She trained at Patrick Mouratoglou's academy in France and began playing on the ITF Junior Circuit at age 13. Gauff was runner-up at the 2017 US Open junior event, the youngest finalist in its history, and became the No. 1 junior worldwide after winning the 2018 French Open junior singles title. She also won the 2018 US Open junior doubles title with McNally. Gauff made her WTA Tour debut at the 2019 Miami Open, won her opening match, and became the youngest player to qualify for the Wimbledon main draw in 2019, reaching the fourth round. Later that year, she reached the third round of the US Open at age 15.
