Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini (born October 21, 1995), known professionally as Doja Cat, is an American singer and rapper. She was born and raised in Los Angeles and began making and releasing music on SoundCloud as a teenager. At 17, she signed a joint record deal with RCA Records and Kemosabe Records and released her debut extended play, Purrr!, in 2014.
Doja Cat gained wider recognition with the viral 2018 music video for her song "Mooo!". She became known for creating music videos and songs that achieve popularity on social media platforms like TikTok and YouTube. She released her debut studio album, Amala, in 2018 and followed it with another release in 2019, which included the singles "Tia Tamera" and "Juicy". Her second studio album, Hot Pink (2019), reached the top 10 of the Billboard 200, driven by the successful single "Say So", which topped the Billboard Hot 100 after a remix featuring Nicki Minaj. Since early 2020, Doja Cat has received nominations for two BET Awards and four MTV Video Music Awards, winning the latter's Push Best New Artist award.
