Mary Farrah Leni Fawcett (February 2, 1947 – June 25, 2009) was an American actress and artist. She became internationally famous for her red swimsuit poster, the best selling pin-up poster in history, and for starring as private investigator Jill Munroe in the first season of the television series Charlie's Angels (1976–77). In 1996, she was ranked No. 26 on TV Guide's "50 Greatest TV Stars of All-Time".
Fawcett began her career in 1968 with commercials and guest television roles, including recurring parts on Harry O (1974–76) and The Six Million Dollar Man (1974–78). Her breakthrough came with Charlie's Angels, leading to her first Golden Globe nomination. She received critical acclaim and award nominations for roles in the play and film Extremities (1983 and 1986), and TV movies such as The Burning Bed (1984) and Small Sacrifices (1989). She continued acting in films and TV series, earning her third Emmy nomination for The Guardian (2002–03). Diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006, Fawcett's battle was documented in the 2009 NBC film Farrah's Story, for which she posthumously received a fourth Emmy nomination as a producer.
