Glenda May Jackson, CBE (born 9 May 1936) is a British actress and Labour Party politician. She was a Member of Parliament (MP) from 1992 to 2015, representing Hampstead and Kilburn.
Jackson began her acting career in the late 1950s and was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company from 1964. She won two Academy Awards for Best Actress for Women in Love (1969) and A Touch of Class (1973). She also received a Primetime Emmy Award for the BBC television serial Elizabeth R (1971). As an MP, she served as Junior Transport Minister from 1997 to 1999 and was critical of Tony Blair later in his government. In 2011, she announced she would retire from Parliament at the 2015 general election.
