Hina Rabbani Khar, born on 19 November 1977, is a Pakistani politician who served as the 21st Foreign Minister of Pakistan from February 2011 to March 2013. She was the youngest and the first woman to hold this position. Khar comes from a feudal family in Multan and studied business at LUMS and Amherst.
She entered politics in 2002 as a member of the national assembly representing PML-Q and served as a junior minister for economic policy. After switching to the Pakistan Peoples Party, she became Minister of State for Finance and Economic Affairs in 2009 and was the first woman to present the national budget. Appointed Foreign Minister by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani in July 2011, she served until 2013 and later retired from active politics while remaining a PPP member and public speaker on foreign policy, advocating for stronger ties with India.
