Iga Świątek (born 31 May 2001) is a Polish professional tennis player with a career-high Women's Tennis Association (WTA) ranking of No. 17. She is the highest-ranked teenager in women's singles and the first Polish player to win a Grand Slam singles title, claiming the 2020 French Open. Świątek became the youngest singles champion at the French Open since Rafael Nadal in 2005 and the youngest women's singles champion since Monica Seles in 1992.
Świątek's father, Tomasz, was an Olympic rower. As a junior, she won the 2018 French Open girls' doubles and the 2018 Wimbledon girls' singles titles. She led Poland to the Junior Fed Cup title in 2016 and won a doubles gold medal at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics. She began playing regularly on the WTA Tour in 2019, entering the top 50 after reaching her first WTA final and the fourth round of the French Open. During her 2020 French Open victory, she defeated top-seeded Simona Halep without dropping a set or losing more than five games per match. Świątek has an all-court playing style and won the WTA Fan Favorite Shot of the Year in 2019. She also finished second to Halep in the WTA Fan Favorite Singles Player of the Year award that year.
