Kimila Ann "Kim" Basinger (born December 8, 1953) is an American actress and former fashion model. After a successful modeling career in New York during the early to mid-1970s, she moved to Los Angeles and began her acting career on television in 1976. She appeared in two canceled series and several made-for-TV films, including a remake of From Here to Eternity (1979), before making her feature debut in the 1981 drama Hard Country. Basinger won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Lynn Bracken in the 1997 film L.A. Confidential.
Basinger gained prominence as Bond girl Domino Petachi in the 1983 film Never Say Never Again, opposite Sean Connery, and received a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Memo Paris in The Natural (1984). She starred in 9½ Weeks (1986), Nadine (1987), and as Vicki Vale in Tim Burton's Batman (1989), which is the highest-grossing film of her career. For L.A. Confidential, she also won the Golden Globe and SAG Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her other films include I Dreamed of Africa (2000), 8 Mile (2002), The Door in the Floor (2004), Cellular (2004), and The Nice Guys (2016).
