Jessie Buckley (born 28 December 1989) is an Irish singer and actress. She began her career in 2008 as a contestant on the BBC TV talent show I'd Do Anything, where she placed second. In the same year, she appeared as Anne Egermann in the West End revival of Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music. After several theatre roles, she paused her professional career to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, graduating in September 2013.
In 2016, Buckley appeared in four BBC television series: War and Peace as Marya Bolkonskaya, Taboo as Lorna Bow, The Last Post as Honor Martin, and The Woman in White as Marian Halcombe. She starred in the films Beast (2017) and Wild Rose (2018), receiving critical acclaim for the latter. In 2019, she played Lyudmilla Ignatenko in the HBO miniseries Chernobyl and was included in Forbes' "Thirty Under 30" list of disrupters and trailblazers.
