Chyna (born Joan Marie Laurer; December 27, 1969 – c. April 20, 2016) was an American professional wrestler, glamour model, pornographic film actress, and bodybuilder. She gained prominence in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) in 1997 as the "Ninth Wonder of the World" and was a founding member of D-Generation X. She was the first female enforcer in the promotion, held the WWF Intercontinental Championship twice (the only female to do so), and won the WWF Women's Championship once. Chyna was the first woman to participate in the Royal Rumble and King of the Ring events and to become the number one contender for the WWF Championship. She had singles victories over male wrestlers including Triple H, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, and Jeff Jarrett. After leaving WWF in 2001, she wrestled sporadically for New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2002 and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling in 2011.
Outside wrestling, Chyna appeared twice in Playboy magazine and took part in various television shows and films. She was a cast member on VH1's The Surreal Life in 2005, leading to appearances on The Surreal Life: Fame Games in 2007 and Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew in 2008. She had a relationship with wrestler Sean Waltman, with whom she released a commercially distributed sex tape in 2004 titled 1 Night in China, winning a 2006 AVN Award for Best-Selling Title. She also starred in five other pornographic titles, including Backdoor to Chyna, which won AVN's 2012 Best Celebrity Sex Tape award.
