Juliane Köhler (born 6 August 1965) is a German theatre, television, and film actress. She was born in Göttingen to a puppeteer and studied under Uta Hagen in New York City from 1985 to 1988, attending the HB acting studio. She also received ballet instruction in Munich.
Köhler began her theatre career in 1988 at Hanover's Lower Saxon State Theatre and was part of the Bavarian State Theatre ensemble from 1993 to 1997. She left the company due to filming Aimée & Jaguar conflicting with rehearsals for Das Käthchen von Heilbronn and later returned to Munich to work with the Munich Kammerspiele. Her film roles include Aimée & Jaguar (1999), Nowhere in Africa (2001), Downfall (2004), Haber (2008), Eden Is West (2009), and Two Lives (2012).
