Julie Beth Ertz (née Johnston; born April 6, 1992) is an American soccer player for Angel City FC in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and the United States women's national soccer team. She made her national team debut on February 9, 2013, in a friendly against Scotland and has since earned over 100 caps. Ertz played collegiate soccer at Santa Clara University from 2010 to 2013 and was selected third overall by the Chicago Red Stars in the 2014 NWSL College Draft.
Ertz helped the United States win the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2015 and 2019. In 2015, at age 23, she was the second youngest player on the team and played every minute of all seven games, earning a place on the FIFA Women's World Cup All-Star Team. After switching to center midfield in 2017, she was named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, received a nomination in 2018, and won the award again in 2019.
