Lola Emily Mary Young, born on January 4, 2001, in Croydon, London, is a British singer-songwriter known for her blend of indie pop, R&B, and soul. She grew up in Beckenham in a musical family; her father is of Jamaican-Chinese descent and her mother is English.
She began piano, guitar, and vocal lessons at age six and started writing songs at eleven. After attending the BRIT School, she won the Open Mic UK competition at fifteen and signed with Island Records in 2019. Her 2024 single "Messy" reached number one and brought her significant recognition.
