American actress Lynn Whitfield (née Smith; born February 15, 1953) started her professional work in television and theater before advancing to supporting roles in films. She was awarded a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie and received a nomination for a Golden Globe for her role as Josephine Baker in the HBO biopic The Josephine Baker Story (1991).
