MacKenzie Scott Bezos (née Tuttle; born April 7, 1970) is an American novelist, activist, and philanthropist. She has been the executive director of Bystander Revolution, an anti-bullying organization she founded, since 2014. Born in San Francisco, California, she graduated from Princeton University in 1992, where she studied under writer Toni Morrison. She worked at the hedge fund D. E. Shaw as an administrative assistant from 1992 to 1994. In 2005, she published her debut novel, The Testing of Luther Albright, which won an American Book Award in 2006.
MacKenzie was married to Jeff Bezos from 1993 to 2019. Their divorce made her the third-wealthiest woman globally and one of the wealthiest people overall by April 2019. In June 2020, Forbes ranked her as the 22nd richest person worldwide, largely due to a $38 billion divorce settlement. In July 2020, she signed the Giving Pledge, committing to donate at least half of her wealth to charity.
