Amanda Leigh "Mandy" Moore (born April 10, 1984) is an American singer-songwriter and actress. She gained recognition with her 1999 debut single "Candy," which reached number 41 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her first album, So Real (1999), was certified Platinum by the RIAA. In 2000, her single "I Wanna Be with You" peaked at number 24 on the Hot 100, and the album of the same name achieved Gold certification. Her third album, Mandy Moore (2001), marked a shift from her earlier pop style and was certified Gold. The single "In My Pocket" became a Top 20 hit in Australia.
Moore released Coverage in 2003, featuring covers of 1970s songs, after which she left Epic Records. Compilation albums The Best of Mandy Moore (2004) and Candy (2005) sold about 100,000 copies each. Her 2007 album Wild Hope sold around 200,000 copies without RIAA certification, and its singles did not chart internationally. Amanda Leigh (2009) peaked at number 25 on the Billboard 200 and sold about 100,000 copies. By 2009, she had sold over 15 million albums worldwide. Moore was ranked #96 on VH1's "100 Greatest Women in Music" and #63 on their Sexiest Artists of All Time list in 2012.
Moore began acting with a minor voice role in Dr. Dolittle 2 (2001) and appeared in The Princess Diaries (2001). She starred in A Walk to Remember (2002) and acted in films such as How to Deal (2003), Chasing Liberty (2004), and Saved! (2004). She co-starred in American Dreamz (2006), which did not recoup its $17 million budget. She also appeared in Because I Said So and License to Wed (both 2007). In 2010, Moore voiced Rapunzel in the animated film Tangled and performed the Grammy-winning duet "I See the Light." She reprised this role in the short film Tangled Ever After and is set to voice Rapunzel in a 2017 Disney Channel series, as well as in several video games.
