The term "player's wife," commonly known as WAGs (Wives and Girlfriends), does not constitute a formal profession. These women gain attention primarily through their relationships with prominent athletes, particularly soccer players in Europe. Many WAGs are also recognized as models with varying degrees of success.
Some were already well-known before their relationships, such as Victoria Beckham or Lena Gercke, who was linked to Sami Khedira. Another notable example is Gisele Bündchen, married to NFL quarterback Tom Brady.

More often, a relationship with a high-profile athlete boosts a woman’s visibility, leading to modeling opportunities. A prime example is Ann-Kathrin Brömmel, who is married to soccer star Mario Götze.
In some instances, former WAGs have capitalized on their fame post-breakup by posing for nude photo shoots in publications like Playboy, as seen with the ex-partners of Oliver Kahn and Lothar Matthäus.
