The Qi Book (Qí Shū) or Southern Qi Book (Nán Qí Shū) is a historical account of the Southern Qi dynasty in China, documenting the years 479 to 502. It forms part of the Twenty-Four Histories of Chinese history. The text was composed by Xiao Zixian during the subsequent Liang Dynasty. This work stands out as it is the sole volume among the Twenty-Four Histories authored by someone from the ruling family of that dynasty – Xiao Zixian being a grandson of Emperor Gao, who established Southern Qi.
Initially presented to Emperor Wu of Liang, this manuscript was referred to merely as the Book of Qi. Following the completion of the Book of Northern Qi (which details events from the later Northern Qi dynasty), it became necessary to differentiate between them, leading to its renaming as the Book of Southern Qi. At its inception, this book comprised 60 volumes; however, one preface has since been lost.
