Sandra Maischberger (born 25 August 1966) is a German journalist, talk show host, and author. She was born in Munich and spent part of her childhood in Frascati, Italy, and Garching near Munich. She trained at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich School of Journalism from 1987 to 1989 and has worked for various television stations including Bayerischer Rundfunk, Premiere, RTL, VOX, n-tv, and ARD.
Maischberger has written several books, including an interview with Helmut Schmidt titled "Hand aufs Herz" and an encyclopedia of prominent figures called "Die musst Du kennen — Menschen machen Geschichte." She has received awards such as the Golden Camera for her interview with Helmut Schmidt. In 2008, she founded Vincentino, an organization supporting cultural projects for underprivileged children. She also supports the Freya von Moltke Foundation and the Kreisau Initiative. Maischberger participated in the 2001 Buddy Bear Berlin Show, designing a bear auctioned in 2003, with proceeds exceeding €171,000. The bear is now displayed in a museum in Bad Pyrmont.
