American children's book author Alexandra Day (born 1941) is a pen name for Sandra Louise Woodward Darling. She created the series featuring Good Dog, Carl, which narrates the adventures of a Rottweiler named Carl who cares for an infant named Madeleine. This title was initially released in 1985 through her own publishing venture, Green Tiger Press. Following this debut, a collection of additional Carl books was published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1941, Day established Green Tiger Press with her spouse Harold Darling in 1970. Concurrently, she embarked on a path in illustration and completed her first illustrated work in 1983: The Teddy Bears' Picnic, inspired by the well-known children's song authored by Jimmy Kennedy.

Day resides with her husband in Seattle, Washington.
