American jurist Amy Coney Barrett (originally named Amy Vivian Coney; born January 28, 1972) is an attorney and academic currently serving as a circuit judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Nominated by President Donald Trump to this position on May 8, 2017, she received Senate confirmation on October 31, 2017. In addition to her judicial role, Barrett has held a law professor position at Notre Dame Law School, focusing on civil procedure, constitutional law, and statutory interpretation. Less than a year following her appointment to the Seventh Circuit, she was included in Trump's list of potential nominees for the Supreme Court. On September 26, 2020, Trump put forth Barrett's name to fill the vacancy left by Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the United States Supreme Court.
