German fencer Anja Fichtel-Mauritz (born 17 August 1968, née Fichtel) achieved success at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul by winning both individual and team events. She claimed the top spot in the individual category at the World Championships in 1986 and again in 1990. As a part of the national German team, she secured victories at the World Championships in 1985, 1989, and 1993, along with a silver medal in team competition during the 1992 Summer Olympics. Fichtel was recognized as German champion from 1986 to 1996.
