Samsel was raised in Wolfsburg, where she completed her secondary education. In 1999, she secured the title of German artistic roller skating champion and claimed victory at the World Championships in 1999, 2000, and 2002.
Samsel featured in Coldplay's music video for the single "Lost!" released in 2008. Since December 2009, she has portrayed Katja Bergmann on the RTL soap opera Alles was zählt.
Currently residing in Cologne, her initial performance took place in the short film Epicalypse Now directed by Daryush Shokof also located in Cologne, Germany.
