Britta Kamrau (born April 6, 1979, in Rostock) is a former German long-distance swimmer. She attended CJD Jugenddorf-Christophorusschule Rostock until her high school graduation in 1998. She competed for SC Empor Rostock starting in 2000. Her usual distances ranged from 5 to 25 km, sometimes longer.
Kamrau became world champion in the 10 km event at the 2002 Open Water World Championships in Sharm El-Sheikh and won bronze in the 25 km. At the 2003 World Swimming Championships in Barcelona, she earned bronze in the 5 km and silver in the 25 km. In 2004, she won both the 10 km and 25 km events at the Open Water World Championships in Dubai. At the 2005 World Swimming Championships, she finished second in the 25 km after a close race with Edith van Dijk, who was declared the winner by three-tenths of a second. Kamrau won the 25 km world title at the 2007 World Swimming Championships in Melbourne, finishing 2 minutes and 27 seconds ahead of the runner-up. The race had been paused due to weather and resumed the next day with the swimmers starting according to their previous time gaps.
Kamrau placed second in the TV total diving competition on November 26, 2005, and again on November 24, 2007. She also participated in the event in 2009 and 2011, both individually and in synchronized diving with beach volleyball player Ilka Semmler.
She studied law at the University of Rostock and completed her legal clerkship in Rostock. On June 27, 2012, she was appointed as a judge in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
