Elite is a Spanish thriller teen drama television series created for Netflix by Carlos Montero and Darío Madrona. It is set in Las Encinas, a fictional elite secondary school, and follows the relationships between three working-class students enrolled through a scholarship program and their wealthy classmates. The series features an ensemble cast, many of whom appeared in other Netflix productions in Spain and Latin America.
The series addresses themes common to teen dramas as well as diverse sexual topics and uses a flash-forward plot structure involving a mystery, with each season unfolding across two timelines. The first season of eight episodes was released on 5 October 2018. It received positive reviews and was renewed for subsequent seasons, with the second released on 6 September 2019, the third on 13 March 2020, the fourth on 18 June 2021, and the fifth scheduled for 2022. Netflix renewed the series for a sixth season in October 2021.
