Helen Rachel Slater (born December 15, 1963, in Bethpage, New York) is an American actress and singer-songwriter. She made her breakthrough as a film actress in 1984 with the leading role in the science fiction film Supergirl.
In the following years, she appeared in films such as Time of Revenge, The Incredible Rescue of the Crazy Mrs. Stone, The Secret of My Success, and City Slickers. Later, she mainly acted in television films and made guest appearances in numerous American TV series. Since her youth, she has pursued musical interests as a pianist and singer, releasing five albums of original compositions between 2003 and 2015.
